Psychiatric Care
Support for your mind, shaped around your story, your goals, and what steadiness looks like for you. Every plan is individualized following an appropriate clinical evaluation.
What psychiatric care includes
- Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation — history, symptoms, health, functioning, and goals.
- Diagnosis and individualized planning, explained in clear language.
- Medication management — prescribing when clinically appropriate, with monitoring, education, and adjustments as needed.
- Ongoing follow-up to evaluate progress and revise the plan when clinically appropriate.
Who it is for
Adults seeking support for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma-related symptoms, sleep difficulties, and other mental health concerns — including women navigating pregnancy, the postpartum period, and life transitions.
Psychiatric care can be useful when symptoms begin to affect daily routines, relationships, work, or rest, even when it is hard to describe exactly what feels different. Some people seek care during a period of change, while others seek care for concerns that have been present for some time. Support can include learning more about Anxiety and Depression, as well as other concerns, in a space where questions are welcome and decisions are made together.
What to expect at your first appointment
Your first appointment is a thorough evaluation. You will discuss your history, symptoms, health, functioning, and goals, then talk through options together and agree on a personalized plan. Follow-up appointments focus on progress, questions, and next steps.
In psychiatric care, the first evaluation is a starting point, not a final answer. It helps you and your provider understand what may be contributing to symptoms and what kind of support may be useful. You can ask about treatment options, what follow-up may involve, and how progress will be reviewed over time. For general educational information about mental health, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) provides public information about mental health topics.
Meet your provider
Keesha Hamilton-Fowler, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Brain Bridge Psychiatry, LLC. She provides compassionate, personalized, evidence-based care in a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. Her holistic approach considers how physical health, emotional experiences, relationships, culture, and daily habits influence mental well-being.
Her approach to psychiatric care emphasizes plain language, collaboration, and attention to the whole person. Care may include discussion of sleep, routines, relationships, and stress, alongside clinical evaluation and, when appropriate, medication. Plans can be adjusted as needs change, and follow-up provides a regular chance to review what is helping and what may need a different approach. People seeking psychiatric care may also wish to learn about addiction treatment when substance use is part of their concerns.
